Nathan Bonilla-Warford, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Bonilla-Warford received his Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry, located in Chicago, Illinois, in 2004. The following year he completed a residency program specializing in Pediatric and Binocular Vision at the Illinois College of Optometry. During his Optometric Internships, he studied developmental vision in Denver, Colorado and contact lenses and ocular disease in Chicago, Illinois.
Owing to his passion for improving the vision of children, Dr. Bonilla-Warford has published articles on such topics as the use of vision therapy to improve reading skills and has lectured to Optometry students and paraprofessionals as well as the general public on visual care of children, the importance of vision in personal development, and options for controlling nearsightedness.
Dr. Bonilla-Warford is very active in professional organizations and is a member of the American Optometric Association. He is currently Immediate Past President of the Hillsborough Society of Optometry and is chair of the Children's Vision Committee of the Florida Optometric Association. Additionally, he is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), an organization dedicated to pediatric vision and vision therapy, and has earned the title of Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, an organization dedicated to vision research and education.
Not only does Dr. Bonilla-Warford care for the patients that come to his practice, but to all those in need. He has volunteered his time at the Special Olympics, Junior Olympics, and numerous school and community vision screenings. He traveled to Diriamba, Nicaragua as a member of Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity and helped examine and distribute glasses to over 2,000 people.
Dr. Bonilla-Warford is involved in the social media community as well. He uses platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Buzz to connect with people both locally and internationally. He is the Chair of the Social Media committee for COVD and is dedicated to raising the awareness of children's visual problems via social media.
Dr. Bonilla-Warford's interest in the diversity of people is due in part to the varied locations he has called home. Born in Kentucky, he spent his boyhood in the Rocky Mountains of Montana. He then moved to Ocala, Florida for high school and completed a degree in Environmental Science at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he met his wife Cristina. Cristina Bonilla-Warford
Cristina is the Business Manager of Bright Eyes Family Vision Care. After living in such exotic places as Hawaii, Alabama, and Texas as young child, she moved to Largo, Florida and graduated from Seminole High School. She received her B.S. in Environmental Science at University of Florida in Gainesville, where she met Dr. Bonilla-Warford (before he was a doctor!). After teaching Marine Science in South Carolina for a year, she received her Masters Degree in Conservation Biology at University of Wisconsin, in Madison. She spent the next six years in Chicago, involved in Teacher Education at the Notebaert Nature Museum, and most recently has been involved in the Education Department at the Florida Aquarium here in Tampa. She enjoys reading, outdoor activities and crafts of all kinds.
Nora & Javier Warford
Dr. & Mrs. BW's beloved children. Nora was born on Mother's Day, 2007 and Javier was born Oct. 8, 2009. Welcome to the family, Javier!
Justin Schoonover
Justin is Operations Manager of Bright Eyes Family Vision Care. He was born and raised in Plant City, Florida and lived there for twenty-one years. He graduated from Plant City High School and received an associates degree in pre-medicine. He recently completed a Bachelors of Science at the University of South Florida. He began working with us because he was interested in the optical industry. He plans to attend the Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in West Palm Beach, FL.
Justin's hobbies include guitar, surfing, and spending time with close friends and family. Justin was married to Jessica on Friday, September 28th, 2007.
Jamie-lee Wright
In addition to working part-time at Bright Eyes Family Vision Care as an Optometric Technician, Jamie-lee attends Hillsborough Community College, pursuing an Associate of Arts in Medical Science. She is interested in Medicine, particularly dermatology, based her inquisitive nature and personal experience. She comes from a very medical family: her father is a physician and her mother is a nurse.
Sandra Krakowski
Sandra is a frame and lens specialist and vision therapist at Bright Eyes. She was born in Chicago, IL and moved to Florida when she was 13. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences and minors in Biomedical Physics and Public Health. She has been working in the optical field for 2 years and next plans to attend the Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she plans on pursuing a career as an Optometrist. In her free time when she's not studying, Sandy likes to go to the beach, boating, shopping and just having fun.
Edna Moore
Edna is our vision
therapist at Bright Eyes Family Vision Care.She and her husband are originally from Memphis, TN, and moved to Tampa,
FL, with their 3 children.She also
home-schooled her children during this time, one of who had successfully
completed vision therapy in order to overcome his vision problems.As a parent, Edna has witnessed firsthand
how vision therapy can greatly change one's life, and is now very excited to
have this unique opportunity to help Dr. Bonilla-Warford significantly impact
the lives of others through vision therapy.
